Native farmers and ranchers are major contributors to their reservation economies, food systems, and land stewardship. Recognizing this, the Native Lands Advocacy Project (NLAP) has produced many data tools and resources related to Native Agriculture & Land Use over the years since our founding. This year, we’ve expanded these offerings by creating dedicated pages of Data Tools for Native Farmers and Data Tools for Native Ranchers. These pages can be found under the “Topics” tab.
These two pages compile the most relevant data-rich dashboards, maps, storymaps, and blog posts to support Native agricultural producers. Both pages also contain links to dedicated storymaps by the same names: Data Tools for Native Farmers and Data Tools for Native Ranchers. These storymaps contain a brief explanation of each data tool alongside a short video demo of how to use each tool.
Used in tandem, these pages and storymaps are intended to create the highest possible level of access to these data tools for agricultural producers. Using the pages, farmers and ranchers can directly access the data tools most relevant to their operations. If questions arise about these data tools and how to most effectively use them, farmers and ranchers can then use the corresponding storymap to quickly access explanations and guidance.
The Native Lands Advocacy Project is committed to producing data tools and informational resources to support farmers’ and ranchers’ informed decision-making regarding land stewardship, access to capital, and involvement in the broader agricultural economy. We’ve also provided a feedback form & we welcome any questions, suggestions, and other feedback on these new pages.
